Solution Architect – Commercial Growth & Partnerships
Payments unit of Zelis is hiring two Solution Architects to work directly within the Commercial Growth & Partnerships organization. These roles sit at the intersection of commercial strategy and technical execution, supporting commercial initiatives and partner integrations with direct commercial impact.
What You’ll DoProof of Concept Development
Work with the commercial team to rapidly prototype and validate new product and integration concepts. Translate business and partner conversations into working technical demonstrations that can be reviewed, approved, and handed to scale engineering. Build PoC integrations with strategic partners across provider network, clearinghouse, and patient financial engagement. Develop lightweight prototypes for new payment and financial product concepts.
Partner Integration Builds
Design and build integration enhancements that unlock commercial growth. Build network redundancy for payment volume expansion, API and file-based data exchange with EHR platforms and practice‑management systems, and automate integration layers to scale.
Platform Initiative Support
Prepare commercial growth initiatives for scaling within complex platforms. Sharpen build requirements, pre‑socialize architecture decisions, and shorten the path to formal engineering delivery. Design funds flow from capital facility through settlement and repayment, and develop flexible billing systems in collaboration with product teams.
Technical Discovery & Architecture
Work with product leadership to define requirements, validate architectural decisions, and produce documentation to enable formal engineering intake, shortening the path to production.
What You Bring- 3–5 years of software engineering experience with emphasis on payments, fintech, or healthcare technology.
- Hands‑on payments orchestration experience (ACH, real‑time rails, card processing, or payment file architecture).
- REST and event‑driven integration fluency, both synchronous and asynchronous data flows.
- File‑based integration experience (EDI, 835/837, or equivalent healthcare payment formats).
- Comfort with funds‑flow design concepts: sub‑account structures, ledger‑based accounting, payment reconciliation.
- Experience operating in a regulated environment with compliance, security, and audit trail requirements (ACH operating rules, PCI, HIPAA).
- Design and build scalable APIs and event‑driven systems in high‑volume transactional environments.
- Onshore, U.S. based; real‑time collaboration with commercial, product, and technology leadership.
Preferred
- Background in healthcare payments or financial technology.
- Experience contributing to or reviewing architecture decisions in cross‑functional teams.
- Comfort working in ambiguity with evolving requirements.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Experience leveraging advanced AI coding assistants and agents.
- Startup or high‑growth environment experience.
- Track record of influencing technical direction across teams without direct authority.
Not purely architectural or advisory, not a standalone seat, not a "rewrite everything" engagement, not a traditional engineering role driven solely by backlog.
What You’ll Grow IntoEngineers embedded in the Commercial Growth team gain exposure to partner conversations, accountable for meaningful commercial outcomes, and work across the full range of Zelis payment products, developing breadth of context rarely available in traditional engineering roles.
