Summary: The successful candidate will be a passionate, mission‑driven, and collaborative educator who desires an opportunity to teach in a diverse and welcoming school environment. This teacher will instruct students using Eureka Math blended with District tools, provide instruction modified to meet individual student needs, collaborate with school administration, the math coach, and grade‑level teams, manage student behavior, use data to inform instruction, and foster exceptional education for all students.
MajorDuties and Responsibilities
- Teach math 4 periods a day using best practices in differentiating instruction.
- Use and modify district curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
- Plan and execute instructional and learning strategies that reflect a deep understanding of student needs.
- Use student‑level data to inform instruction and plan effective lessons/interventions.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of math content, teaching methods, and elementary instruction principles.
- Promote learning and growth for all students through high‑expectation practices, a safe learning environment, and cultural proficiency.
- Foster the learning and growth of all students through effective partnerships with families and caregivers.
- Collaborate with specialists, instructional coaches, administrators, and parents to support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Ensure collaboration with ESL and Special Education teachers to implement strategies that promote success for all students.
- Work under the general supervision of the principal or designated administrator, managing behavior and assessing student achievement.
- Provide structure by building a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree (Required);
Master’s Degree (Preferred) - Massachusetts teaching certification in math grades 6‑8 (Required)
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement within 1 year of start date (Required)
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected growth activities.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an urban public or charter school (Preferred)
- Proven track record of raising achievement scores in an urban/turnaround environment (Highly desired)
- Proficiency with technology (blended learning, teacher/family communication suites, Google G‑Suite Apps, etc.) desirable.
- Ability to meet Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice.
- Dual certification is a plus.
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency is a plus.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
