What You’ll Do

Salem Academy Charter School seeks an excellent middle school Science teacher. The teacher will be responsible for raising achievement through a rigorous and relevant curriculum while supporting a school culture of excellence and joyful learning.

Responsibilities
  • Work with and for students: align curricular standards with state guidelines; document annual, unit, and lesson plans correlated to state standards; monitor student progress through standards‑based assessments; teach 4 classes a day.
  • Analyze student data, differentiate instruction, and support, plan, and co‑lead service‑learning projects.
  • Advise students through daily Connections class (homeroom); input academic and behavioral data on the school data management system.
  • Work with and for families: participate in parent/teacher/student conferences three times per year and communicate regularly with families about academic and social progress.
  • Work with and for colleagues: build and maintain a strong school culture centered on student achievement; collaborate with colleagues to ensure the success of the school mission; participate in weekly professional development sessions and weekly grade‑level team meetings; input academic and behavioral data into the school data management system.
Who You Are

You are a skilled educator with at least 2 years of experience teaching any STEM courses, and experience teaching middle school Science courses. You have implemented a culturally responsive curriculum and are committed to standards‑based teaching and learning. You work to build student‑centered learning environments, respond proactively and reactively to the academic and social‑emotional needs of students in your classroom, and have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student body.

You are values‑aligned, passionate about Salem Academy Charter School’s mission and vision, and recognize the assets and cultural wealth of all students, families, and staff. You have experience fostering effective inclusion practices and a safe, positive, and respectful class and school culture.

  • Possession of Massachusetts Teacher Certification or successful completion of the MTELs associated with the role.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that meet all of the above requirements and:
  • Are multilingual, including Spanish and English.
  • Have similar life experiences as our students.
  • Hold a Master’s in Math, Science, or Education.
  • Hold National Board Certification.
