This individual is accountable for the teaching and supervision of students in the Medical Assisting program based on the Chapter 74 Massachusetts state frameworks.

• Responsible for the standards‑based instruction of students in Medical Assisting.
• Responsible for integration of the department’s curriculum and alignment of the CVTE state frameworks to the course.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

• Associate degree or higher in a related field.
• Four years of full‑time employment experience directly related to medical assisting.
• Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Medical Assisting – Chapter 74 (or willingness to work toward).
• Current authorization to work in the United States.
• Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply.
• Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus.

• Advanced educational preparation.
• Curriculum development experience and knowledge of technical competencies with curriculum frameworks.
• Proficiency with technology such as blended learning, teacher/family communication suites (Remind preferred), Google G‑Suite Apps, etc.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities.
• Demonstrated experience supporting English language learners.

Teachers in Salem Public Schools work a 185‑day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days).

Teacher salaries in the Salem Public Schools are determined by the Salem Teachers Union collective bargaining agreement (2024‑2027). Salary information can be found in Appendix

A.
