Job DescriptionSalem Public Schools is an urban public school district in Salem, Massachusetts. This role will provide high‑quality, accessible, standards‑based math instruction to multilingual learners.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement standards‑based unit plans with an emphasis on student mastery of content and skills.
- Monitor students’ progress and pace by using formative and summative assessments directly linked to learning goals.
- Scaffold instruction, supports, and pacing so that all learners can master the content.
- Provide teacher corrective feedback, opportunities for practice, revision, and improvement.
- Identify underachieving students in need of support in math using the district assessment plan.
- Evaluate each student’s progress in math knowledge and skills.
- Prepare teaching materials and related reports for lesson plans and documentation of student progress.
- Participate in in‑service programs to enhance the overall educational experience.
- Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Provide structure in the classroom by promoting a positive environment conducive to learning.
- Work under the general supervision of the building principal or other designated administrator, manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement.
- Additional duties may be assigned.

- Bachelor's Degree (required);
Master’s Degree preferred. - Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Math 9‑12.
- Experience with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs preferred.
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement (required within 1 year of start date).
- Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice.
- Safety Care trained or willing to be trained (District provides).
- Proficiency with technology (blended learning, teacher/family communication suites, Google G‑Suite Apps, etc.) desirable.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the District and/or self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred.
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus.

- Current authorization to work in the United States.
Teachers in Salem Public Schools work a 185‑day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days). Please view the 2026‑27 district and/or school calendars.

Salary& Benefits
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $59,719.90 to $116,414 per year. Teacher salaries are determined by the Salem Teachers Union collective bargaining agreement (2024‑2027). Salary information can be found in Appendix
A.
