Job Description

Hours: Monday‑Thursday (4‑5 hours per day) July 6 – August 6, 2026

Role: As an Inclusion Support Intern for the Special Education Department Summer Program, you will gain experience working with students with various disabilities. This internship introduces you to the classroom setting and is a great opportunity for students who want to explore teaching, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, speech therapy or other human service‑oriented careers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Interaction: Interact with and support students during activities such as breakfast, lunch, learning activities, socialization and recreation time under teacher supervision.
  • Classroom Preparation: Assist with classroom activities, set‑up, organization and clean‑up.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Data Collection: Assist with data collection and willingness to learn assistive technology.
Qualifications
  • Must be 16+ years old.
  • Interns must complete all Salem Public Schools required paperwork before the start of the internship.
  • Interns must be able to work all 5 weeks up to 20 hours per week.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and contribute to the team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Attendance: report to work as scheduled, sign in, and remain on the job until dismissed.
  • Notify the summer director at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
  • Displays patience, a positive attitude and willingness to learn to work with students with a wide variety of abilities.
  • Open to feedback and working collaboratively.

Pay: $17.00/hr
