What You'll Do:
Under the supervision of the Building Principal, the music teacher is responsible for teaching music education to pupils in grades 9-12 and assists the staff of the school in the improvement and appreciation of music instruction. Helps pupils grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing instruments, and listening.
The music teacher also performs other duties directly related to this job description.
Role Responsibilities:
* Oversee the choral program, including multiple vocal ensemble courses such as Chorus/Chorus Honors, and Chamber Singers and co-ed Acapella (stipended extra curricular position).
* Instruct a variety of General Music courses, which may include Piano Lab, Music Theory, and Exploring Music.
* Work collaboratively with the Band & Orchestra Teachers as part of a comprehensive high school music program.
* Possess strong musicianship, effective rehearsal techniques, and experience supporting students of varying musical backgrounds and experience levels are essential. Piano accompaniment skills are preferred, and candidates should possess a willingness to continue developing their skills as needed.
* Familiarity with the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework and the ability to design sequential, standards-aligned lessons and assessments are important components of this role. Detailed job specifics, including class assignments and program structure, will be communicated by the Music Coordinator and Principal.
* Creates a safe and welcoming learning environment with engaging lessons and activities as part of a skills-based, comprehensive band program that meets the needs of diverse learners.

* Collaborates with the instrumental music team to plan and deliver school-based and district wide concerts throughout the year.
* Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
* Evaluates each pupil's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding. Assesses each individual's contribution to the performance of the group.
