Overview
The psychology department at Salem State University is seeking a full‑time Professor of Practice in Counseling, beginning in September 2027. The role focuses on teaching primarily evening graduate courses in the Master of Science in Counseling program and undergraduate day classes, advising graduate and undergraduate students, and serving as the Clinical Training Director. The faculty member will provide supervision to instructors, oversee practicum and internship programs, and work to infuse multicultural content and social justice principles across teaching, research, supervision, advising, mentoring, and training.
The appointment will contribute to and support efforts to seek and maintain accreditation for the MS Counseling program.
Salary range: $87,000–$92,000 for the rank of assistant professor.
The position is a four‑year, fixed‑term appointment ending May 31, 2031.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesCandidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract, including teaching, advising, and maintaining modern skills and knowledge in their field of practice. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
Clinical Training Director ResponsibilitiesOn‑site position in Salem, MA, with on‑campus, in‑person responsibilities.
