Salem State University invites applications for a temporary Adjunct Professor of Spanish Education with a joint appointment in the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the McKeown School of Education for spring 2027. This position plays a central leadership role in the university's Spanish teacher licensure programs. The candidate will teach Spanish teacher licensure courses for the 4+1 BA/MEd with Initial Licensure and the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Spanish.
These programs are jointly supported by the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the McKeown School of Education.
Teaching responsibilities will be distributed across the two units and will focus primarily on licensure-related coursework, including but not limited to:
- Spanish Methods I and II courses with integrated, co-requisite field experiences
- Student teaching seminar and practicum
- Advanced-track courses such as Action Research and Clinical sequences
- Service & Professional Engagement
- Engage in service activities in both the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the McKeown School of Education
- Collaborate across disciplines to align licensure curricula, assessment practices, and clinical expectations
- Participate actively in state, regional, and national professional organizations related to world language education
Location:
This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
Employment is contingent upon a completed background and CORI check satisfactory to the university.
