MortgageLoan Officer
– Role Overview
The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells Bank mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. In this on‑going sales role, the MLO continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities.
A Mortgage Loan Officer’s network may consist of Real Estate professionals, Builders, professional and personal contacts, and other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the MLO’s regular participation in business‑related development opportunities, community efforts to promote home ownership and professional organizations.
The MLO responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other Salem Five business lines. The MLO conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information.
Responsibilities and Duties- Develop and maintain successful relationships with business referral sources, existing and prospective.
- Prospect new mortgage lending opportunities.
- Meet with customers as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
- Utilize Salem Five training materials, reference tools and other resources to provide accurate and up‑to‑date loan program/policy information to external customers and internal business partners.
- Provide complete loan applications to loan processors.
- Ensure exceptional customer experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing ongoing communication to customers and business partners.
- Consistently achieve and exceed sales goals through active prospecting and solicitation from referral resources.
- Originate applications in accordance with company policy, compliance, and regulatory guidelines.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 1‑3 years of mortgage sales experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Draw plus commission. The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, and performance. This range may be modified in the future.
