WORK PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
POSITION: Assistant Program Coordinator
STATUS: Non-Exempt
Requirements- High School Diploma or GED and Valid Driver’s License required (Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred).
- Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and implementing physical intervention strategies (e.g., Safety Care); minimum one year prior experience preferred.
Under the supervision and direction of the Program Coordinator (PC) or Program Manager (PM), the Assistant Program Coordinator (APC) ensures the quality of the Group Residence through direct support of individuals served and supports the daily performance of the house staff in accordance with May Center policies and procedures. They work and interact with individuals with neurological (e.g., autism spectrum disorder) and developmental disabilities, including those with significant challenging behaviors.
The Assistant Program Coordinator will be required to implement physical management procedures as needed, using Safety Care approved interventions. The Assistant Program Coordinator carries out these responsibilities with respect and dignity and with adherence to May Institute policies and procedures and the Mission, Vision, and Values of May Institute.
The Assistant Program Coordinator ensures program data for individuals served are entered and up to date. They complete assessment tools as assigned by PC (by direction of the ACD) or others. The Assistant Program Coordinator completes assigned documentation and supports staff with meeting documentation requirements/expectations.
They ensure clinical team is apprised of information relevant to service delivery (e.g., behavioral changes; demographic and medical information). The Assistant Program Coordinator supports the delivery of an intensive therapeutic program for the individual served while they are out of the classrooms. They review and maintain current knowledge of each individual’s program/plan (IEP, BSP, ESP, ISP, IFSP, Treatment Plan, etc.). The Assistant Program Coordinator ensures timely implementation of programming to meet daily schedules.
They implement programs to meet the objectives for the student in his/her charge. The Assistant Program Coordinator supports implementation of safety protocols as designed and in accordance with funder, licensure, and accreditor requirements and state and federal regulations.
The Assistant Program Coordinator prioritizes client well‑being and outcomes throughout service delivery, adhering to all local and state guidelines (e.g., Mandated Reporter). Supervisory duties are conducted to ensure the safety and well‑being of individuals served during assigned shifts. Assistance is provided to assigned individuals served in personal hygiene and self‑care tasks as well as emergency medical care (if needed). Participation is required to enhance quality of services provided through both review and curation of all relevant social and medical information of individuals served in their care as well as in the organization’s continuous improvement processes to increase productivity and reduce inefficiencies.

The Assistant Program Coordinator promotes the rights and dignity of individuals served throughout service delivery, by encouraging student autonomy and choice in delivery of educational programming supports and services. They adhere to all Policies and Procedures of the May Center School pertaining to Student Protections and Student Records, following ethical and confidentiality standards of the May Institute.
