Assistant Program Coordinator

STATUS

Non-Exempt

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED and Valid Driver’s License required (Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred).
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and implementing physical intervention strategies (e.g., Safety Care); minimum one year prior experience preferred.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision and direction of the Program Coordinator (PC) or Program Manager (PM), the Assistant Program Coordinator (APC) ensures the quality of the Group Residence through direct support of individuals served and supports the daily performance of the house staff in accordance with May Center policies and procedures. They work and interact with individuals with neurological (e.g., autism spectrum disorder) and developmental disabilities, including those with significant challenging behaviors.

The Assistant Program Coordinator will be required to implement physical management procedures as needed, using Safety Care approved interventions. The Assistant Program Coordinator carries out these responsibilities with respect and dignity and with adherence to May Institute policies and procedures and the Mission, Vision, and Values of May Institute.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INDIVIDUAL CARE AND FACILITY UPKEEP

The Assistant Program Coordinator provides direct support (in-ratio) to individuals served as scheduled. They demonstrate an understanding of the philosophy of the May Institute and demonstrate proficiency in using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA; e.g., antecedent manipulations, establishing instructional control, use of reinforcement contingencies, etc.). The Assistant Program Coordinator implements individualized programs/plans (e.g. Individualized Education Programs, IEPs, Short Term Objectives (STO’s), ISPs, IFSPs, Treatment Plans, etc.)

and collects data on programs as indicated in the program book and (e.g., discrete trial, chaining, shaping etc.) in accordance with the program schedule. They provide assistance to individuals served in personal hygiene and self-care tasks and coordinate receipt of emergency medical care, if needed. They report incidents, following state Mandated Reporter guidelines. The Assistant Program Coordinator supports delivery of safe, clean, and appropriate residential program in accordance with local/state regulations, Program standards, and documentation of maintenance concerns as needed.

The Assistant Program Coordinator assists Program Coordinators (PCs) with ensuring maintenance of a clean, safe, and hygienic environment, including monitoring levels of food, goods (e.g., clothing and personal items) and adhering to daily living routines. They, in conjunction with the PC, may assist in planning or accompanying individuals served on approved outings, supporting opportunities and access for creative outings and completion of community outing documentation.

The Assistant Program Coordinator ensures adherence to appropriate staff to student ratios. In conjunction with the PC, may , provide or arrange transportation, for outings (e.g., public, May Institute vehicles, personal vehicles, on-foot) in accordance with all relevant May Institute policies regarding off-grounds activities, reporting any issues with maintenance or upkeep of May Institute vehicles.

IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF PROGRAMMING

The Assistant Program Coordinator ensures program data for individuals served are entered and up to date. They complete assessment tools as assigned by PC (by direction of the ACD) or others. The Assistant Program Coordinator completes assigned documentation and supports staff with meeting documentation requirements/expectations. They ensure clinical team is apprised of information relevant to service delivery (e.g., behavioral changes; demographic and medical information).

The Assistant Program Coordinator supports the delivery of an intensive therapeutic program for the individual served while they are out of the classrooms. They review and maintain current knowledge of each individual’s program/plan (IEP, BSP, ESP, ISP, IFSP, Treatment Plan,…
