Overview

Report to: Mike Lilley, Director of Programs and Partnerships

Schedule: 40-hour-a-week, full-time, Tuesday-Saturday, Wednesday evenings and Saturdays as required

Location: 220 Highland Avenue, Salem MA

Salary: $23 – $26 per hour

The Salem Pantry (TSP) is seeking a Program Coordinator to administer two different direct-to-home distribution programs. This position focuses on managing registration, coordinating grocery deliveries, and maintaining accurate data and reporting.

The Program Coordinator will be the primary SNAP Outreach Coordinator for the organization, helping guests access nutritional assistance benefits and work closely with the Director to plan and execute short-term projects required to support TSP operations.

Responsibilities

Delivery Program Coordination

  • Ensure delivery bags and boxes are accounted for and prepared for delivery.
  • Administer a portion of the customer relations software.
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete weekly, monthly, and yearly reporting and inventories.
  • Communicate with clients over the phone to schedule deliveries, manage requests, and resolve issues.
  • Implement a “ choice” model for home deliveries in coordination with the Director.
  • Deliver groceries to guests as needed.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach Coordinator

  • Assist clients with SNAP applications, recertifications, or record updates via phone, text, or in-person.
  • Maintain and distribute outreach materials for community events.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, healthcare facilities, and other organizations to expand program reach.
  • Inform communities about SNAP eligibility, benefits, and how to use them.
  • Track outreach activities and report on program metrics.
  • Train volunteers and staff on SNAP programs and outreach procedures.
  • Attend events, workshops, and partner meetings to promote SNAP and related nutrition programs.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise pantry volunteers in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager.
  • Foster a strong and reliable volunteer team.

Program Operation Support

  • Assist with Market and Mobile Pantry operations.
  • Complete assigned short-term projects.

Organizational Engagement

  • Attend regular all-team meetings and actively contribute to program planning and review discussions.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to support organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Assist with additional tasks or organizational needs when requested

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, and use tools or controls. The employee must be able to lift 50+ pounds and operate equipment such as pallet jacks, etc. (training provided)

The employee will work in office, warehouse, retail, and outdoor environments with exposure to conditions such as heat, cold, and dust.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Previous Experience

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
    .
  • 1–3 years of management or supervisory experience, preferably in nonprofit, food access, or community-based settings.
  • Proficiency with technology, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with grocery or food distribution operations preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities, track projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and energy for engaging with people of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, operate pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (training provided).
