Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider who is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions. The NP provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, develops plans of care, conducts ongoing evaluations, and may precept a small group of learners.
Essential Functions- Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high‑quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
Education
:
Master’s Degree in Nursing (required). Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.
Licenses and Credentials
:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN‑NP – State License) – Generic – HR Only (required).
Experience
: 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience (1‑2 years required). 3+ years of pediatric experience in an emergency department or urgent care environment required.
- Pediatric nurse practitioner board certification preferred.
- BLS/PALS certification required.
- Experience with pediatric wound repair/suturing, treatment of orthopedic injuries, incision and drainage, and pediatric mental health.
