Job SummarySeeking a highly specialized IV Therapy Registered Nurse for their night team. This role is essential for maintaining venous access standards across the entire hospital during the late-night and early-morning hours. You will serve as the hospital-wide expert for difficult access, central line maintenance, and ultrasound-guided procedures, supporting clinical units ranging from the NICU to Geriatrics.
Key Responsibilities- Advanced Vascular Access: Perform expert peripheral IV insertions and Ultrasound-Guided IV placements for patients with difficult venous access.
- PICC Line Management: Assist in or perform PICC line insertions and repositioning as required by clinical protocols.
- CVAD Maintenance: Execute Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) dressing changes, access/de-access implanted ports, and perform non-tunneled CVAD removals.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Reconstitute, instill, and remove thrombolytics for occluded vascular access devices to restore patency.
- Consultative Support: Act as the subject matter expert for nursing staff regarding line complications, site assessments, and infusion therapy best practices.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of dedicated experience on an IV or Venous Access team.
- Clinical Skills: Mastery of Ultrasound-Guided IV lines and PICC line insertion/management is required.
- Licensure: Active Massachusetts State RN License.
- Certifications: Current AHA BLS required; VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certified) or CRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) preferred.
- Education: BSN is preferred.
- Patient Population: Must be competent in treating all ages, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Department: IV Therapy (SH1368).
- EMR: Epic.
- Equipment: Proficiency with ultrasound bedside consoles (e.g., Site-Rite or Bard systems).
- Location: Salem, MA 01970.
- Floating: No floating required; the IV team covers the entire facility.
- Shift Structure: Unique 36-hour schedule combining one 12-hour shift with three 8-hour shifts to ensure consistent night-time coverage.
- Urgency: Open Need (SO).
- Independence: Night shift IV nurses must be highly autonomous, often acting as the sole vascular access expert on-site during their shift.
