Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Observation Unit - Overnights

Registered Nurse Job Summary

The Registered Nurse manages all aspects of the nursing process and the delivery of patient and family‑centered care. The RN has the responsibility and authority to request and use governing and administrative resources, technological and support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts necessary to manage and deliver quality, cost‑effective patient care.

Specialty Requirements
  • Emergency Department (ED): BLS required, Prefer ACLS/PALS. Minimum of 3 years Operating Room Nursing experience required. Requires call. Ability to circulate and scrub.
    Minimum of 3 years OFR nursing experience required for first assist.
  • Operating Room (OR) / First Assist: Proficiency in using computers and ability to quickly gain competency in various hospital software applications. Maintain current BLS certification. Requires call.
  • PACU: Minimum 3 years critical care and/or specialty experience required. ACLS and PALS certification required.
  • ICU: ACLS certification required.
  • Cardiac Rehab: Computer skills required. Minimum of two years medical/surgical nursing experience and two years recent cardiac intensive nursing care experience. Critical care education required. BLS and ACLS required.
  • Medical/Surgical (Med Surg): Requires BLS and/or ACLS certification, Prefer 2+ years Med/Surg experience.
  • Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery: Inpatient Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Emergency Department Nurses required to maintain BLS and PALS certification. ENPC preferred for Pediatric ED Nurses. Pediatric Special Care Nursery Nurses require BLS and NRP certification. Labor and Delivery Nurses require BLS with EFM preferred. Prefer minimum two years experience in Pediatric or Labor and Delivery Nursing.
  • Pre‑Op Evaluation: Must have two years of critical care experience.
  • Radiology: 3 years medical/surgical nursing experience required, preferably one year of critical care experience. Current BLS and ACLS required.

  • Clinical Practice:—Utilizes the standards of Patient Focused Model; plans, implements, evaluates, and manages care for all patients with consideration of age, developmental, socioeconomic, psychological, physical, spiritual and cultural factors; practice reflects knowledge of current nursing literature and resources; maintain competency in nursing practice and clinical skills; complete mandatory educational requirements; assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care for assigned patients; delegate appropriate nursing activities to unlicensed personnel;

    collect and analyze patient information; collaborate with patient, family, physicians and health care team members; collaborate with the physician regarding the patient’s clinical status; maintain continuity of care; assess patient’s learning needs; develop teaching plan; educate patients and family members; communicate progress to outcomes with other team members; assure timely initiation, completion, communication and documentation of nursing care, tests, treatment, teaching and discharge planning activities;

    consult with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Health Care Coordinator for complex patient care management; identify and resolve barriers to implementing plan of care or achieving expected outcomes; consult appropriate resources to report and/or resolve problems; seek out innovative opportunities to improve patient care; exhibit fiscal accountability through…
