Overview
Mass General Brigham is a leading provider of patient care, research and education in Northern Massachusetts. This position is located in the Pediatric Emergency Department in Salem, MA and provides high‑quality care to patients aged birth through 21.
Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider who will assess and manage pediatric patients in the emergency department. The NP will perform medical screening examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, provide counseling and education, and write prescriptions in accordance with state regulations.
Essential Functions- Provides direct care, counseling and education to pediatric patients in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on outcomes.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies.
- Provides high‑quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population.
- Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN‑NP) – state license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience.
- Pediatric nurse practitioner board certification preferred.
- BLS/PALS certification required.
- 3+ years of pediatric experience in an emergency department or urgent care environment required.
- Experience with pediatric wound repair/suturing, orthopedic injuries, incision and drainage, and pediatric mental health preferred.
- Part‑time 20 hours per week, 10‑hour shifts (1:00 PM‑11:00 PM) with rotating weekends and holidays.
- Evening shift only.
