Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing systems. Proficient in psychotropic medications and their side effects. Ability to assume the role of charge nurse. Competent in completing admissions and discharges. Skilled in using IV pumps and caring for diabetic patients.
Description:
The position involves working in a 30-bed adult psychiatric unit. The unit serves patients aged 18 to 65 with diverse mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. Medically acute patients may also be treated on the unit. The clinician to patient ratio is 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. Floating between units is required. Rotating shifts are expected, with shifts ranging from days to nights.
Knowledge of mental health regulations and patients' rights is essential. Understanding of guardianship and court-ordered medication laws is necessary. Training opportunities, including AVADE and EKG, are offered on-site.
