American Traveler is hiring an Adult Psych RN for a 30-bed inpatient unit requiring 2+ years of adult psych experience and an active MA RN license.
Requirements- Active Massachusetts RN license required (no conditional or pending licenses accepted)
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric nursing experience required
- Proficiency with automatic medication dispensing systems (Omnicell) required
- Proficiency with psychotropic medications and their side effects required
- Ability to assume charge nurse responsibilities required
- Competency in completing admissions and discharges required
- Competency in IV pump use and diabetic patient care required
- Flu vaccination required with no religious or medical exemptions allowed
- Adult inpatient psychiatric unit treating patients ages 18-65 with diverse mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis patients undergoing detox
- Also cares for some medically acute patients requiring IVs, CPAPs, wound care, and diabetic care
- 30-bed unit with a clinician to patient ratio of 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week
- Day Rotate schedule covering 7a-7p, 11a-11p, and 7p-7a shifts, with no more than 2-3 shifts per time block and typically limited to 1-2 time blocks per 4-week period
- Night shift position available that does not rotate
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Floating required

- Responsibilities include direct psychiatric nursing care, medication administration, and monitoring of medically acute patients
- On-site AVADE training and lead EKG training offered
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations preferred
- Familiarity with inpatient rights related to restraint, seclusion, and legal statuses preferred
- Understanding of guardianship laws, healthcare proxy status, and court-ordered medication requirements preferred
- Local candidates accepted; candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and receive a reduced rate
