Brief Unit

Description:

30-bed Adult Unit, ages 18-65 years. We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolardisorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis patients: detoxhere on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acutepatients (IVs, CPAPs, Wound Care, diabetic care).Years of Experience

Required:

2years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience.

Skill Sets

Required:

Proficient in using automatic medicationdispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in the use of psychotropicmedications and side effects. Able to assume the role of charge nurse; able to complete admissions and discharges. Competent in the use of IV pumps and care ofdiabetic patients.

Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1RN to 7 or 8 patients.

Patient Population:
Adult 18 to 65 years of age.

Bed Count: 30.EMR(Charting System): EPIC.Floating

Rotating Shifts

Required:

Yes, for Day Rotate, (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a). Nomore than 2-3 shifts per time block and typically not for more than 1 or 2 timeblocks (4 week blocks). Nights position does not rotate.

Certifications

Required:

Active Massachusetts RN License. AHA BLS.Additional Information: AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKGtraining. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations. Rights of inpatient requirements related to restraint andseclusion, legal statuses. Knowledge of laws pertaining to guardianship,healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed) and court ordered Medication.
