Educational Assistant Classroom (P/T) AKA Reading Assistant
Qualifications:
High School Graduate Preferably college experience Experience working with children
Reports To:
Director of Literacy in consultation with building principal
Confers With:
Building reading specialist, administrator(s), classroom teachers, and other professional staff
Job Goal:
To assist students in meeting the Salem School District reading standards.
Performance Responsibilities:
- To provide direct reading instruction to students in consultation with the reading specialist.
- To administer standardized and informal reading assessments.
- To utilize assessment data to inform instruction
- To monitor and record student progress and share information with the building reading specialist, classroom teacher, and other professional staff, as appropriate.
- To maintain student records as required by the district.
- To work collaboratively with classroom teachers, building reading specialist, and other professional staff to deliver a cohesive program that supports classroom instruction.
- To work cooperatively with staff to achieve school objectives.
Terms Of Employment:
To be established by school board by August 10th.
Hourly Salary: $19.56 plus $1.00 for a certification from the NH Department of Education as a para educator II or as a teacher. An Educational Assistant who is certified as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) will receive a $3.00 per hour differential.
Hours/Day: 4.5
School Year: 183 days/year
Evaluation:
Performance to be evaluated no less than annually by the Building Administrator.
