Your future role on our team
We're seeking amotivated and detail-oriented Transmission Line Engineer to join our growingengineering team. You'll be responsible for designing and analyzing overhead and underground high-voltage transmission line projects, ranging from 115 kV to765 kV.

This role offers the opportunity to work on utility-scale projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic consulting environment.

• Perform detailed design of overhead transmission lines, including:
  - Conductor and shield wire selection
  - Structure spotting and optimization
  - Sag and tension calculations
  - Clearance analysis
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as:
  - Plan and profile drawings
  - Stringing charts
  - Design calculations and technical reports
• Conduct structural load analysis for poles and towers under wind, ice and broken-wire conditions
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, environmental and survey teams
• Review vendor drawings and support procurement activities
• Provide engineering support during construction and respond to field inquiries
• Ensure designs comply with applicable CSA standards, utility requirements and regulatory guidelines

Project management and client engagement

• Provide engineering services and consulting work as a lead designer or as a supporting team member, building client relationships
• Participate in project management activities, including cost tracking, deadline management and resource planning
• Lead coordination meetings, both internally and with clients, demonstrating technical leadership
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to inform design decisions
• Participate in commissioning equipment at client sites, locally and internationally, ensuring successful project delivery

Leadership and mentoring

• Coach and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, fostering their technical growth and professional development
• Supervise and guide junior and intermediate team members through complex design projects and problem-solving processes
• Share your expertise by leading design reviews and providing constructive feedback for technical work
• Support the development of technical skills and career progression for junior team members

Summary of certifications and job requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil or structural engineering
• Registered as a professional engineer in the United States or eligible for registration within 1 month of hiring
• At least 8 years of transmission line design experience
• Working knowledge of CSA standards and utility design practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Micro Station
• Experience working with LiDAR data and terrain models
• Knowledge of foundation design or geotechnical coordination
• Experience with transmission line uprating or rehabilitation projects

Software experience:

• PLS-CADD
• PLS-POLE / PLS-TOWER
• AutoCAD / Civil 3D / Micro Station
• ArcGIS or other GIS tools
• Microsoft Excel (advanced)
