Position OverviewField Service Technician – responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability of automated micro fulfillment and material handling systems in live customer environments.
What you’ll do- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on robotic, conveyor, lift, motor, sensor, and material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair PLC‑controlled systems, electrical circuits, control panels, HMIs, and electro‑mechanical components in live production environments.
- Respond to equipment faults and operational disruptions to restore system functionality and minimize downtime.
- Execute inspections, adjustments, component replacements, and equipment repairs.
- Monitor system performance, alarms, logs, and operational data to identify recurring faults.
- Support daily operational activities and partner closely with customers to maximize uptime and productivity.
- Escalate complex technical issues to Senior Field Service Engineers and engineering teams when required.
- Collaborate with Hardware, Software, Systems Engineering, Operations, and site leadership teams to stabilize system performance.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Participate in training programs, technical initiatives, and future site go‑live activities.
- Maintain maintenance records and troubleshooting documentation in CMMS and internal reporting systems.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, conveyor safety, and Symbotic safety standards.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands‑on experience in Electrical Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, or a related field; or minimum of 2years of hands‑on experience supporting automated systems in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or material handling environments.
- Experience troubleshooting electromechanical equipment and diagnosing/repairing electrical circuitry, control panels, motors, sensors, and automation hardware.
- Ability to support live operational environments where equipment uptime directly impacts production or fulfillment.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance, breakdown response, and equipment recovery procedures.
- Strong communication skills – ability to lead technical discussions and maintain professionalism with customers.
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance documentation practices (preferred).
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, working at heights, and conveyor safety standards.
- OSHA, NFPA
70E, electrical safety, or vendor‑specific automation certifications are a plus. - Ability to travel regionally within Massachusetts (30‑40%) and occasionally across North America for training and technical initiatives.
- Steep stairs and high railings; protective PPE may be required.
- Temperature range 0°F to 80°F; weather conditions may vary.
- Frequent lifting up to 50lb and moving up to 80lb.
- Stand or walk up to 10‑12hours; tasks include bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and repetitive movements.
- Work at heights up to 45ft and within restrictive spaces 24in.
- Work at heights and engage in safety protocols such as LOTO and fall protection.
Base salary range: $54,000–$74,800 per year. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and additional benefits as described.
