Summitry follows an intrinsic-value investment approach focused on competitively advantaged companies. The investment team is responsible for a concentrated portfolio of 20–30 businesses that combine durable economic moats, above-average growth, capable and disciplined management, and stock prices trading at meaningful discounts to intrinsic value.
The Equity Analyst is a generalist positioned at the center of our investment process. The analyst sources and researches new investment ideas, builds and maintains financial models, and presents high-conviction buy and sell recommendations to the portfolio manager. The analyst is also responsible for covering existing portfolio holdings and is expected and encouraged to share their views on every company in the portfolio.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Generate, research, and pitch investment ideas across sectors, grounded in fundamental analysis of business quality, competitive position, management, growth, and valuation.
- Synthesize public information, industry data, company disclosures, and insights from industry contacts to form differentiated conclusions, often with incomplete information.
- Build and maintain financial models and valuation analyses—including DCF,comparable-company, and scenario analyses—focused on key business drivers, risks, and potential returns.
- Write clear, rigorous investment memos and present and defend buy and sell recommendations before the investment team.
- Monitor portfolio holdings, including earnings, key performance indicators, industry developments, valuation, and thesis drift; recommend additions, trims, or exits as the facts change.
- Develop relationships with management teams and industry participants through company meetings, events, and conferences.
- Clearly communicate our investment thesis for portfolio holdings to advisors and clients; answer client questions; and contribute to quarterly letters, market commentary, and client events.
- Collaborate with colleagues by reviewing research, financial models, and investment theses and by sharing expertise across the investment team.
- Bachelor’s degree; CFA® designation or meaningful progress toward the designation preferred; MBA a plus
- 5+ years of fundamental equity research experience (buy-side, sell-side, or equivalent) with a track record of well-researched stock recommendations
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills across methodologies
- An independent and critical thinker who demonstrates intellectual honesty, and a collaborative mindset
- Strong passion for investing and a commitment to long-term fundamental research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex analysis into a clear and compelling investment case
