Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Technician

The Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Technician will support the inspection and manufacturing process to quickly initiate and create programs for the AOI machine as well as resolve any issues related to the AOI equipment. The AOI Technician will interact with and support Production and Engineering personnel to resolve issues when necessary.

The AOI Technician should have a basic understanding of manufacturing processes used in the electronics manufacturing industry and be comfortable working with computers and learning new software. Examples include knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT), IPC-A-610 quality standards, reflow soldering, thru-hole soldering, PCB assembly and electronics systems assembly processes.

• Initiate and create visual inspection programs for the AOI machine.
• Work with the Quality Engineers to tune programs to the proper inspection criteria.
• Work with the AOI Disposition operators to maintain good flow of the inspection process.
• Troubleshoot and repair assembly equipment in a timely manner.
• Identify equipment and process problems, as they occur, in the production environment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on the inspection machine.
• Maintain critical parts inventory and order spare parts as necessary.
• Support Production as required to keep product flowing.
• Support and advance company safe work practices.
• Suggest improvements to better the flow of the manufacturing process.
• Participate in the continuous improvement process / manufacturing improvement teams.

• High School diploma / GED / Vocational Technical Education is required.
• Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Mechanics, or similar degree is preferred.
• Must have strong Electrical/Mechanical skills and Computer skills
• Previous experience within an electronic or electromechanical manufacturing environment is a plus.

• Strong electrical and/or mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve independently.
• Ability to work from electrical and mechanical schematics, drawings, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
