Overview
The State of New Hampshire, Liquor Commission has part-time Retail Salesperson I positions available state-wide (up to 28 hours per week). This role earns time and a half on Sundays. See total compensation information at the bottom of this posting.
Summary:
To provide exceptional customer service in a retail outlet environment by greeting and assisting customers, processing purchases, and maintaining alcohol product merchandising in accordance with NH Liquor Commission rules, policies, and procedures. Learn about store products and inventory to sell and promote them.
- Provide exceptional customer service and strive for excellence when welcoming and assisting customers, building relationships, and protecting NH Liquor Commission and state reputation.
- Assist customers by answering questions, helping locate products, providing product advice, recommending products, and selling alcohol, lottery tickets, and related items.
- Process payments and make change using cash register, scanner, credit/debit terminals, and lottery ticket dispenser; wrap or bag merchandise following Cash Control and Security policies.
- Verify currency validity and cardholder identity as established by NHLC policies and procedures.
- Learn and follow current laws and NHLC policies regulating alcohol sales; attend Liquor Outlet Training Seminar (LOTS) annually to maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, processes, and laws.
- Unload deliveries, stock products, and maintain merchandising displays; ensure a safe, clean, and orderly workplace.
- Guard against fraudulent payments, observe customer behavior, and verify purchaser age according to current laws.
- Reconcile sales records and assist in counting physical inventory.

Experience:
8th grade education - License/Certification: None
- Other Requirements: Must be able to continuously lift material up to 25 pounds, with frequent lifting of cases up to 60 pounds;
Must be at least 18 years of age on date of application. - Trainee Option:
Not applicable - Applicants are subject to a criminal background check and reference check.
Completion of two years of high school or equivalent, along with six months of experience in positions involving public contact and requiring change-making.
