Sales Associate (Fashion Consultant)

Help us build Salem’s new favorite modern resale store. Uptown Cheapskate is a fast-growing national resale brand that is changing the way people buy and sell fashion.

At Uptown Cheapskate Salem, customers will shop a constantly changing mix of like-new and gently used pieces from brands like Lululemon, Free People, Alo, Vuori, Zara, Nike, and designer labels, all at up to 80% off regular retail prices. A huge part of our business is buying great clothes directly from people in our community.

We’re hiring full-time and part-time Sales Associates to join our opening team. You won’t just be stepping into an established store. You’ll help build one from the beginning, with opportunities to contribute across customer service, merchandising, social media, community events, and operations.

We’re looking for positive, hardworking people who love helping others, want to learn, and are excited to build something special with us.

• Create an upbeat, personalized experience for every customer
• Help shoppers discover outfits, brands, and great finds
• Assist customers in the fitting rooms and help them find items that fit their needs
• Operate the register; tag, hang, and sort clothing
• Restock and merchandise products while keeping the sales floor and fitting rooms organized, clean, and inviting
• Help with Instagram and Tik Tok content, community events, and other store needs

• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Friendly, confident communication
• An interest in fashion, brands, and current styles
• Reliability, punctuality, and openness to feedback
• Availability for a shifts that we need
• Comfort staying active and handling clothing inventory
• Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful, but not required

• $15 per hour to start, with opportunities to earn more as you complete training and demonstrate skills

We want great people to grow with us. Sales Associates may cross-train in buying or advance into Shift Lead and management roles based on their strengths, performance, completed training, and the needs of the store.

Training and onboarding will begin soon. We plan to begin buying clothing from customers in late September, with our Grand Opening planned for November.
