Service Technician
Join a field-based role in the Southern NH / Greater MA area where you install, repair, and service machines in gas stations, sporting venues, and convenience stores. You ensure equipment operates reliably, product quality meets established standards, and customers receive professional, courteous service. The position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with basic HVAC-related tasks and customer interaction, including recommending additional products and services.
Responsibilities- Travel to customer locations in the Greater Springfield area to service, repair, and maintain machines in gas stations, convenience stores, and sporting arenas.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related issues on equipment that uses pumps and motors to provide refrigerated liquids.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
- Use hand tools and field service equipment to complete mechanical repairs, electrical assembly, and installations safely and efficiently.
- Check machines regularly to verify that product quality and performance meet established standards.
- Document service work performed and communicate findings, recommendations, and next steps clearly to customers.
- Identify opportunities to upsell products, services, or upgrades that improve equipment performance and customer satisfaction.
- Follow established procedures and safety guidelines when working in gas stations, convenience stores, and sporting venues.
- Coordinate schedules to cover first shift work from Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, ensuring timely response to service requests.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while working on-site and interacting with customers and staff.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical repair, including working with pumps, motors, and related components.
- Practical knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly those used in equipment providing refrigerated liquids.
- Strong electrical skills, including electrical assembly and basic troubleshooting of electrical circuits and components.
- Proven troubleshooting ability to quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related issues in the field.
- Experience performing service and preventive maintenance (PM) work on equipment.
- Comfort working in a field service role, traveling to multiple customer locations.
- Proficiency using common hand tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to install, service, and maintain equipment according to technical guidelines and safety standards.
- Clear communication skills for interacting with customers and explaining service work and recommendations.
- Capability to work independently on first shift schedules, managing time and tasks effectively.
Skills & Qualifications
- EPA certification is preferred and demonstrates familiarity with environmental and refrigerant handling standards.
- HVAC certification is preferred and indicates formal training in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Experience working in gas stations, convenience stores, or sporting arenas is an asset.
- Comfort with upselling and recommending additional products or services to customers in a professional manner.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to build positive relationships on-site.
- Attention to detail when checking equipment performance and product quality.
