Production Welder
Join a long-established metal fabrication team as a Shift MIG/TIG Welder, performing high-quality production and fabrication welding on aluminum and steel components. You will interpret blueprints, set up and operate welding equipment, and contribute to a clean, organized, and safety-focused manufacturing environment on either first or second shift.
Responsibilities:- Perform MIG welding on aluminum and steel components for both production and fabrication shop work.
- Perform TIG welding as needed, particularly on aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals as specified.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and welding procedure specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Set up welding machines based on job requirements and welding procedure specifications, including selecting appropriate settings and consumables.
- Fit and assemble products to match blueprint specifications, including structural steel, sheet metal, and other metal components.
- Utilize robotic welders as needed, including loading parts, monitoring weld quality, and making basic adjustments.
- Perform structural steel and aluminum welding, including mild steel, stainless steel, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Conduct production welding in a high-volume environment while maintaining consistent quality and meeting production goals.
- Perform fabrication welding tasks, including fitting, tacking, and final welding of complex assemblies.
- Inspect welds and finished parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making corrections as necessary.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Collaborate with team members, machine operators, and engineers to ensure efficient workflow and problem resolution.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on processes, equipment, and quality.
Skills:
- Minimum 3+ years of MIG or TIG welding experience, with aluminum welding strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to interpret and read blueprints and drawings for welding and fabrication work.
- Hands-on experience with MIG welding on aluminum and steel in a production or fabrication environment.
- Ability to perform TIG welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals as required.
- Experience working with structural steel, aluminum, sheet metal, and mild steel components.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges.
- Ability to set up welding machines according to job requirements and welding procedure specifications.
- Experience with robotic welding systems, including basic operation and monitoring.
- Strong blueprint reading and fitting skills to assemble parts to specification.
- Capability to perform production welding while maintaining high quality and consistency.
- Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test.
- Ability to pass a lifetime check.
Qualifications:
- Experience with structural steel fabrication, including fitting and welding of large assemblies.
- Experience in both production welding and custom fabrication shop work.
- Familiarity with GTAW (TIG) processes and stick welding.
- Experience welding stainless steel and mild steel in various thicknesses.
- Comfort working with advanced fabrication equipment, including robotic welders and CNC-supported processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality metal products.
- Ability to work effectively on either first or second shift as scheduled.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment in a modern fabrication environment.
