Stepdown Registered Nurse | Salem, Ohio

A rewarding opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in stepdown/ progressive care to provide specialized care for patients recovering from cardiac, surgical, and respiratory conditions. This contract role is based in Salem, OH, with a focus on a 26-bed PCU/Stepdown unit offering diverse clinical challenges and structured patient care ratios.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop plans of care, and evaluate treatment outcomes.
• Administer medications safely, including titrating Cardizem and managing Amiodarone drips.
• Manage patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide patient advocacy and education, coordinating care with families and healthcare professionals.
• Utilize clinical judgment to respond rapidly to changing patient conditions and emergencies.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• Current RN license for state of practice or compact state participation (required).
• Minimum 1 year RN experience, with acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide available).
• Certifications:
  
  BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred).
• Knowledge of stepdown unit procedures including cardiac drips, wound care, and respiratory support.
• Ability to perform hemodynamic monitoring and manage temporary pacing.
• Strong communication, clinical assessment, and teamwork skills.

• Manual dexterity required for patient care tasks.
• Ability to lift, push, and assist patients as needed.
