- Prepare, present, and independently defend the department's position at the written objection level
- Respond to written objections from taxpayers
- Prepare concise and understandable work papers and reports using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
- Review and evaluate amended returns and work amended returns after audits
- Perform excise or income tax audits on selected corporations conducting business in Oregon
- Support the supervisor in Transit District Self-Employment program coordination and unit operational functions
- Provide taxpayer assistance by researching technical questions and responding on various tax programs
- Four years of work experience in tax compliance, tax preparation, tax auditing, audit defense, professional accounting, providing law training, or developing tax forms or instructions; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field may substitute for up to three years of experience
- Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Strong analytical, auditing, and investigative skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing reports, explaining technical information, and conducting face-to-face interactions
- Must reside within the state of Oregon, except current Revenue employees living outside Oregon may apply
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Applicants requiring visa sponsorship will not be considered
- Must pass a criminal background and fingerprinting check
- Must comply with Oregon income tax laws, including filing Oregon tax returns and arranging payment of outstanding liabilities before receiving an offer
Demonstrates expertise in tax compliance, auditing, and preparation, with a strong ability to interpret complex laws and regulations. Proficient in preparing detailed reports and providing taxpayer assistance while ensuring compliance with Oregon tax laws.
