Who We AreThe Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court serves as the administrative head of the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD). The State Court Administrator (SCA) supports and assists the Chief Justice in exercising administrative authority and management of the statewide unified court system of trial and appellate courts. The SCA manages OJD’s centralized support systems including budget and accounting, technology, human resources, and programmatic and educational functions, as well as the data collection, analysis, and reporting accountability required of a branch of state government.
The SCA also manages the Executive Services Division (ESD) within the Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA) provides OJD’s executive policy, legal advice, communications, and governmental relations services, as well as support for judicial branch leadership structures and meetings, judicial coverage, administrative services, and general coordination and assistance to support and promote judicial branch success.

ESD is seeking our next Assistant Deputy State Court Administrator for Operations (Assistant Deputy State Court Administrator) to join our team in Salem, Oregon.
In this role, you will provide executive-level management and coordination of OJD’s core operational divisions:
Human Resources, Business and Fiscal Services, and Enterprise Technology. The role ensures alignment of these divisions with organizational priorities, facilitates cross-divisional communication, and supports data-informed decision-making for Oregon’s statewide court system. You will also have a critical role in developing the judicial branch’s legislatively approved biennial budget.
The person in this position must be able to respond quickly to emerging issues and workload demands, work long hours, especially during legislative session, and be able to pivot among operational subject matters and the internal and external factors affecting Oregon’s unified court system. This position is dynamic and requires creative thinking as well as technical skills to meet the demands of the organization.
OperationalStrategy and Planning
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with organizational goals to ensure transparency and timely resolution of issues.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt innovative technologies and process improvements to modernize operations, enhance efficiency, and support evolving organizational needs.
- Establish short- and long-term objectives for operations (HR, Fiscal, Data, and Technology) and monitor progress toward achieving them.
- Work with leadership to analyze operational impacts of policy/program proposals.
- Partner with Assistant Deputy SCA for Court Programs and Innovation to ensure operational support for current and emerging programs.
