OverviewThe Oregon Department of Justice, Child Advocacy and Protection Division (CAPD) in the Pendleton or Bend Legal office is seeking a seasoned Litigation Support Specialist. This position supports Section Assistant Attorneys General in Eastern Oregon, providing litigation support and legal services for the Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare. The role requires attention to detail and may thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
A hybrid schedule, up to one remote day, is offered subject to agency business needs.
- Process shared email folders containing discovery, court reports, and hearing information into electronic case management systems.
- Review docket reports and calendars related to hearings.
- Open, close, and maintain physical and electronic filing systems.
- Contact clients, agency staff, other agencies, or the public to obtain necessary case information.
- Read, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
- Create, format, and proofread documents.
- Respond to requests for general information and provide explanations to visitors and clients.
- Maintain state vehicle records.
- Order, distribute, and maintain office supplies inventory.
- One year of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other document generation experience.
- OR an equivalent combination of experience and coursework or training in a general office occupation.
- Currently commissioned as a Notary Public in Oregon or able to become commissioned within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a frequently interrupted environment.
- Experience organizing and prioritizing work duties.
- Efficient and accurate data entry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn specialized software.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality with sensitive case information.
- Ability to handle graphic and potentially upsetting material.
- Knowledge of the Oregon Judicial Case Information Network (OJCIN) and Oregon eCourt Case Information Network (OECI).
- Experience supporting attorneys and other legal professionals or in public service.
- Recent college graduates with critical thinking experience.
- Exposure to various operational areas within the Child Advocacy and Protection Division.
