Job Description:

The Oregon Department of Justice’s Division of Child Support (DCS) is seeking to hire a Support Specialist (Office Specialist

Job Duties (in part)
Receive, process, and generate garnishment documents that are sent to financial institutions, attorneys, and non-custodial parents.

Proof-read work and check institution contact information against a database to ensure accurate information is reflected.

Check for signatures and notarization of documents when needed and refer case back to initiating Child Support Case Manager (CSCM) when errors are found.

Prepare outgoing mail by using a postage meter and preparing the mail to be sent out as service or certified.

Update child support records, as appropriate and setting tasks.

Check automated child support case files to determine distribution.

Review payments and apply correct codes for proper allocation and distribution of payments.

E-filing of documents and other filings as back-up of other team members.

Process files, organize and maintain filing systems for the team.

Accurately update logs.

Produce monthly report on garnishment fees.

Process all incoming correspondence related to Special Collections, including the receipt of checks from financial institutions, garnishee responses and service related documents.

Accurately update case record and take next appropriate step in each action: either initiate document on own or refer to CSCM for review, as indicated in procedures.

Receive estate affidavits from Aging and Disability Services and search for child support cases. Correctly identify and forward to CSCM for review.

Notarize documents as needed.

One year of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.

ORAn equivalent combination of experience and college coursework or training in a general office occupation.

ANDFinalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check. A driver history check will be included for positions requiring state vehicle driving privileges. Adverse findings will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the position.

This position will be required to obtain a Notary Public commission within six months of being hired and will maintain the commission throughout the duration of this appointment.
