Job Description:

The Oregon Department of Justice, Trial Division, is seeking to hire an Office Specialist 1 for the Salem Legal Office. The Trial Division defends the State of Oregon and all its agencies, departments, boards, commissions, and district attorney's offices before the state and federal trial courts in Oregon. This position offers day-to-day variety, a strong public service mission, and a focus on work-life balance.

The required work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with an hour for lunch. The position is full-time in office.

Job Duties
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail (physical and electronic), including reviewing documents for typographical errors, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Preparing binders for attorneys to take to trial, including printing requested documents, ensuring correct order, and providing labeled tabs if requested.
  • Preparing files for archive, including entering data into the case management system, maintaining file records, and transporting files.
  • Making scheduled and unscheduled messenger runs in and out of the agency.
  • Opening and closing files using division guidelines.
  • Entering data into computerized case management systems and filing documents.
  • Collecting data for case management docket control and distributing numerous dockets.
Required Experience
  • One year of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of experience and college coursework or training in a general office occupation.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Oregon Driver’s License.
