The Role

Bring your customer service skills to the Grants Pass DMV as a Real . In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining Real  identification cards, answer questions related to Real , and provide customer service for Oregonian’s seeking documents that comply with the Real .

This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before June 30, 2027. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. This position has the potential to become permanent.

A Day In The Life
  • Help the public with obtaining Real , instruction permit or identification cards.
  • Serve as a primary representative in the office for Real .
  • Accurately produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
  • Administer, correct and explain driver license knowledge test and conduct vision tests.
  • Explain state and federal requirements for different driver and identification transactions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
  • Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
  • Collaborate with office leaders and managers to ensure efficient operations related to issuing Real .
  • Examine documents for eligibility prior to issuing credentials.
  • Prepare daily reports and balance transactions at the end of each day.
  • Travel to other offices in the region to perform relief work.
  • Work is performed in a DMV office setting with extensive face‑to‑face interaction with the public.
  • Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy; a typing assessment will be conducted at interview for selected candidates.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
  • Three months experience collecting money and making change.
  • Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
