Capitol Dental is searching for a part‑time Expanded Practice Hygienist and a full‑time Community Outreach Expanded Practice Hygienist. We are hiring immediately for both positions and seek teammates who care, listen, and are motivated to help our patients and communities.

An EPDH in a community outreach setting working with a Medicaid population is a primary care provider. They work independently in multiple community locations, using high‑level decision‑making skills to complete all hygiene services, intra‑oral photos, x‑rays, assessments, and preventive treatment. Using state‑of‑the‑art tele‑health technology, the hygienist communicates and collaborates with the dentist. The tele‑dentist completes a chart review, diagnosis, and treatment plan for restorative needs.
The patient is scheduled for restorative care with a local provider. The EPDH may prescribe antibiotics when necessary, and with guidance from a collaborative dentist, stabilizes a patient until they can be seen by a dentist. Many EPDHs are also trained to scoop and fill. This role requires a high level of accountability, organizational, and communication skills.
- Serve as the Oral Health Champion in the medical clinic, hospital, or multiple community settings.
- Collaborate with medical providers to integrate oral health and primary care.
- Perform administrative tasks—insurance verification, use of computers, EHR (dental and medical software), Word, Excel.
- Lead marketing, education, and professional collaboration within community settings. Educate patients, colleagues, and community stakeholders on oral health importance, and recruit and schedule patients for dental services.
- Accredited Hygiene Technical School or College graduate.
- Current applicable State Dental License (or ability to acquire one by the time of employment).
- Oregon EPDH license.
- Other licenses/certifications such as CPR, locally certified anesthesia.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
