Job Summary

Clackamas County Health Centers Division is hiring a Dental Hygienist for our Sunnyside Dental Clinic. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated health team, delivering preventive and periodontal care, collaborating with physicians and behavioral health professionals, and contributing to whole‑person wellness.

Required Qualifications
  • Current Oregon Dental Hygiene license in good standing issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
  • Nitrous Oxide endorsement at the time of hire (or obtained within 6 months).
  • Current CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a community health center or an FQHC setting.
  • Working knowledge of Epic Wisdom electronic health records.
  • Experience with Oregon Health Plan (OHP) billing requirements and covered services.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Pass a post‑offer, pre‑employment drug test.
  • Pass a criminal history check, which may include national or state fingerprint records.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for County business travel.
  • Veterans with applicable qualifications must specify relevant skills in the application and explain how they relate to this position.
Typical Tasks Routine Tasks
  • Deliver comprehensive dental hygiene care—including preventive and periodontal services—using a patient‑centered, trauma‑informed approach.
  • Empower patients through personalized education, coaching, and preventive strategies.
  • Utilize digital technologies such as Epic and MiPACS to support high‑quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with dentists and support staff to identify patient needs, support treatment planning, and improve health outcomes.
  • Maintain clinical excellence by ensuring instruments, equipment, and treatment areas meet safety and infection‑control standards.
  • Create a welcoming, organized, and efficient clinical environment.
  • Support clinic operations through inventory management and stewardship of supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and review clinical protocols.
  • Coordinate follow‑up care and outreach to keep patients connected to preventive services.
Non‑Routine Tasks
  • Partner with dental students, assistants, and externs to support their clinical learning and professional development.
  • Promote healthy starts for children and families by participating in Baby Day visits, providing nutrition counseling, oral health education, risk assessments, and fluoride varnish applications.
Work Schedule

The position offers a 32‑hour schedule with a consistent four‑day workweek.

Shifts:

Monday 8‑5, Tuesday 10‑7, Wednesday OFF, Thursday 8‑5, Friday 8‑5. One evening shift per week (10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.) supports patient access. The role is fully on‑site.

Compensation

Hourly pay range: $48.37 – $61.39. Salary offers are within the posted pay range and are based on relevant experience.
