The Forensic Evaluation Service (FES) Director is responsible for leading, supporting, and coordinating the activities of the Forensic Evaluation Service, Legal Affairs Department at the Oregon State Hospital which includes clinical supervision and administrative management of FES staff (including psychiatrists, psychologists, and support staff). The FES Director is responsible to assure compliance with federal and state laws, administrative rules, the Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSH policies, and professional standards of practice.

What We Are Looking ForMinimum Qualifications
These qualifications must be reflected in your application for consideration.
- Board certification or board eligibility at the time of appointment.
- Physician's license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain the licensure throughout employment.
- Experience managing clinical and administrative staff.

- Clinical Leadership – Demonstrates the ability to guide, mentor, and support psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners while fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment.
- Expertise in Psychiatry – Brings advanced knowledge of psychiatric care, including forensic and complex clinical cases, with the ability to provide high-level consultation and direct treatment when needed.
- Commitment to Recovery-Oriented Care – Values evidence-based, person-centered treatment approaches that support recovery, safety, and successful reintegration into the community.
- Strong Administrative & Program Oversight Skills – Capable of balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities, including program planning, policy implementation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Adaptability & Collaborative Problem-Solving – Thrives in a dynamic hospital setting, embraces clinical challenges, and utilizes collaborative problem-solving to address barriers to patient care and staff development.
Preference may be given to candidates who possess extensive clinical experience providing oversight and direction on clinical issues and assessments completed by other professional staff.
