Position: Apprenticeship Instructor - 12 Months

The Apprenticeship Instructor provides high quality instruction in assigned apprenticeship courses and supports student success through effective teaching, assessment, and industry‑aligned curriculum. The position also performs designated Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) coordination duties, including communication, documentation, and compliance support. As a full‑time faculty member, the role participates in division and college activities that advance Career and Technical Education programs and maintains strong partnerships with industry.

Instructional

Program Responsibilities
  • Participate in curriculum development and recommend course outline revisions based on JATC input and industry standards.
  • Recommend textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, and relevant library or reference resources.
  • Contribute suggestions for the annual department budget related to instructional needs and program equipment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technological changes, industry practices, and developments in the instructional subject area.
  • Attend meetings and participate in designated committee work; represent the department and CTE Division at pertinent college meetings and outreach events as required.
  • Promote a positive image of the college and apprenticeship programs to students, industry partners, and the community.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Training Agents, JATC members, community partners, and professional organizations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development as a lifelong learner.
Instruction
  • Instruct apprenticeship classes and seminars using discipline expertise and effective teaching practices that support student learning and progression.
  • Meet all scheduled and special classes, including evenings and occasional weekends as required by program needs.
  • Teach assigned classes following approved course outlines and JATC‑aligned curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare, develop, and update instructional materials for assigned classes.
  • Post and maintain regular office hours for student support.
  • Provide students with course syllabi that meet college and program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and apprentice progression; submit required reports in accordance with college and JATC timelines.
  • Maintain instructional facilities, tools, and equipment related to assigned program responsibilities.
  • Deliver instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face‑to‑face, remote, hybrid, and/or online.
JATC Coordination
  • Coordinate apprentice progression processes, including evaluations, attendance verification, and related documentation required by the JATC and state apprenticeship standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of apprentice performance, training hours, and committee‑required reports.
  • Communicate regularly with JATC members, Training Agents, and apprentices to support program expectations, policies, and alignment with industry needs.
  • Prepare instructional or program information for JATC meetings and assist with meeting logistics, agendas, and follow‑up actions.
  • Ensure instructional practices and course materials align with JATC‑approved curriculum and training requirements.
  • Support compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements related to apprenticeship instruction and documentation.
