Responsibilities
- Curriculum development:
Partner with the Knife River Training Center to design and maintain detailed training curriculums for different heavy equipment types (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, graders) aligned with industry standards and safety regulations. - Continuing
Education:
Stay updated on industry advancements, Knife River Training Center Curriculum, new equipment technologies, and safety regulations to incorporate into training programs. - Instructional
Skills:
Proven ability to deliver effective training sessions, including clear explanations, demonstration skills, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles. - Classroom instructions:
Conduct theoretical classroom sessions covering equipment operation principles, safety procedures, maintenance basics, and relevant regulations. - Safety Focus:
Strong commitment to safety practices and the ability to instill a safety-first mindset in trainees. - Hands‑on Training:
Provide practical, hands‑on training on various heavy equipment, guiding trainees through exercises and demonstrating proper techniques in a controlled training environment. - Skill Evaluation:
Assess trainee proficiency through practical evaluations, including performance‑based assessments, to ensure competency and readiness for worksite operations. - Individualized
Coaching:
Provide personalized feedback and coaching to trainees to address individual learning needs and improve performance. - Recordkeeping:
Create training records, including attendance logs, progress reports, and certification documents. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks related to operating heavy equipment.
- Heavy equipment operation experience with expertise in multiple types of heavy machinery
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information and provide feedback
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment criminal background check, physical/functional exam, and drug screen
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and overtime
- Travel and stay overnight to assist other divisions with training
- Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members
- Knowledge of relevant construction industry standards and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using training aids and technology to enhance the learning experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
