Position: Senior Occupational Health Consultant (Industrial Hygienist 4)

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to protecting and serving Oregon’s consumers and workers and supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers’ compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies, and building codes. It also operates consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

This position is within the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA), which is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers.

This position is eligible for part‑time telework once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. Regular, scheduled office hours are also required.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Occupational Health Consultant, you will perform technical work involving the application of industrial hygiene principles for the prevention and control of occupational health hazards. You will work with employers, managers, employer associations, and employees to develop voluntary methods to provide safe and healthful workplaces.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of experience with a federal or state occupational safety and health organization performing duties comparable to an Oregon OSHA Industrial Hygienist 3.
  • Six years of industrial health program experience, with at least three years at a professional level.
  • A master’s degree with 45 quarter hours (32 semester hours) in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Chemistry, a physical or biological science, Ergonomics, or Industrial Engineering, plus two years of professional‑level industrial health program experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree with 45 quarter hours (32 semester hours) in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Chemistry, a physical or biological science, Ergonomics, or Industrial Engineering, plus three years of professional‑level industrial health program experience.
  • An associate degree in Industrial Hygiene plus four‑and‑one‑half years of industrial health program experience, with at least three years at a professional level.
