Position: HVAC Controls - Technical Services Engineer (TSE) I

The Technical Services Engineer (TSE) I is a technical expert who supports Integrated Solutions (IS) project delivery as a member of the IS Technical Services (TS) team. The TSE provides technical authority and direction in the development and implementation of energy conservation measures for retro‑commissioning (RCx) activities. The role supplies expertise throughout the commissioning (Cx) process and collaborates with the engineer of record in system optimization, solutions development in the field.

The TSE supports standards and process development, training, and mentorship of TS staff and works closely with project energy managers and TS team managers to ensure project outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Pre‑Engineering
    • Provides technical assistance to pre‑engineering teams during data collection surveys.
  • Design and Pre‑Construction
    • Leads site surveys to determine existing facility conditions and requirements to complete the scope of work.
    • Develops energy conservation strategies for retro‑commissioning and assists design team with integration of all strategies to achieve a unified approach to energy management.
    • Reviews RFPs for equipment and services procurement to ensure project outcomes are accounted for.
    • Collaborates with project engineers in accordance with best practices, company standards, and applicable codes.
    • Assists the project team with review of critical equipment and system submittals for conformance with contracts and outcomes.
    • Conducts commissioning and occasional peer reviews of design documents.
    • Advises the project team, with the engineer of record, on technical and resource requirements needed to meet outcomes.
  • Construction and Acceptance
    • Assists the project team with site visits to review progress, quality of installation, and identify deficiencies.
    • Troubleshoots equipment/system installation and setup problems.
    • Provides technical support to the implementation team to meet project requirements.
    • Assists in the optimization of complex equipment/system upgrades.
  • Other
    • Identifies gaps in project execution and creates standards/processes to resolve issues.
    • Supports or develops tools for project execution.
    • Solves system integration and operation problems.
    • Upholds and promotes the ENFRA brand by ensuring excellence in work and a positive client experience.
    • Performs duties with minimal supervision in a collaborative problem‑solving environment.
    • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to other TS employees.
    • Completes technical reports as required.
    • Develops training material for TS teams.
    • Provides post‑implementation on‑site operations and maintenance training.
    • Informs significant business decisions while executing projects.
    • Balances technical focus with project constraints and required outcomes for TS.
    • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 4‑6 years of experience in engineering design, energy management, or retro‑commissioning.
  • Professional Mechanical Engineering (PE) license.
  • Expert technical knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and customer/client orientation.
  • Leadership skills with ability to develop and mentor others.
  • Problem‑solving and analytical skills for complex systems.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Central Energy Plant (CEP), Healthcare, or Higher Education project experience.
  • Chilled Water, Heating Water, Steam, and Tower Water system project experience.
  • Hydronic system distribution project experience.
  • Building automation, controls, and systems integration experience.
  • Test and Balance project experience.
  • Energy Management project experience.
  • AutoCAD and Revitr proficiency.
Travel Requirements

40%–60% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Pay Range

USD $88,380.00 – USD $ per year.
