Office of Inspector General (CCS Operations) – Salem, Oregon
Oregon Department of Corrections. Are you ready to play a critical role in maintaining safety and security within Oregon’s correctional institutions? As an Inspector 1 – CCS Support, you’ll be the subject matter expert for the AIC Correctional Communication System (CCS) while conducting investigations that help protect staff, adults in custody (AICs), and the public. This position offers a unique combination of technology support and investigative work, making it ideal for detail-oriented professionals who thrive in dynamic environments.
This position will provide CCS support and investigative services primarily at Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI) and Santiam Correctional Institution (SCI) in Salem.
About The Job – Your RoleIn this role, you’ll split your time between CCS support and investigations, ensuring secure communication and gathering intelligence to strengthen institutional safety.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain CCS access and manage staff user profiles at assigned facilities.
- Train staff on CCS portal use and audit site‑specific complaints.
- Monitor and analyze AIC communications (mail, email, calls, video) for misconduct or criminal activity.
- Gather, verify, and disseminate intelligence to support DOC safety and security.
- Assist Intel, STM, and SIU units by providing actionable information.
- Prepare reports and predicate statements based on investigative findings.
- Respond to major facility incidents and disturbances related to CCS issues.
- Serve as liaison between facility staff, AICs, and the CCS program office.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications- Two years of compliance or investigative experience that included gathering facts, collecting evidence, examining records, conducting interviews to decide compliance with laws, rules or regulations or to verify or disprove claims of suspected violations.
- OR Two years of experience as a Correctional Officer that included developing inmate information sources and interviewing inmates to gather facts to verify or disprove suspected rule violations.
- Ability to maintain Inspector‑level CCS access, manage staff profiles, audit complaints, and track system updates.
- Skilled in training staff on CCS portal use and ensuring adherence to established procedures.
- Competence in monitoring and analyzing AIC communications (mail, email, calls, video) to identify misconduct or criminal activity.
- Experience collecting, verifying, and disseminating intelligence to support safety and security operations.
- Ability to respond to major facility incidents and collaborate with Intel, STM, SIU units, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in maintaining CCS records, handling subpoenas and record requests, and safeguarding sensitive information.
- Ability to analyze large volumes of CCS and intelligence data, identify patterns or trends, and prepare clear, concise reports for decision‑making and investigative purposes.
