The OSFM is recruiting two (2) Deputy State Fire Marshal (DSFM) positions that support Oregon’s Fire & Life Safety Codes program. Both positions share similar responsibilities, with each role having a slightly different area of focus. Below is a summary of each position along with a link to the full position description. Description:
(Focus in Oregon Fire Code & Plans Reviews)
This position supports the development and implementation of Oregon’s Fire and Life Safety Codes program. This role ensures compliance with state fire protection statutes by reviewing, interpreting, and recommending adoption or modification of fire and building codes, including the Oregon Fire Code and related standards. The DSFM serves as a technical consultant for code inquiries, plan reviews for above ground storage tanks and hazardous substance installations, and provides guidance to agencies, businesses, and the public.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining liaison with state agencies and fire service organizations and conducting special technical studies and projects to promote uniformity and enhance fire safety across Oregon.
