As a permanent, full‑time Park Ranger 3, you will lead a major program or facility at the management unit, district, or regional level, operating with a high degree of independence and technical expertise. This role requires advanced skills in areas such as resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, complex utility operations, maintenance program oversight, park rule enforcement, and visitor services.

In this position, you will coordinate work across management unit boundaries and serve as a subject‑matter mentor to both permanent and seasonal staff throughout the region. Your leadership will support the development of specialized skills essential to maintaining and operating OPRD programs, facilities, and properties.

• Five years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) and/or maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
• A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field and 2 years of visitor services experience and/or maintenance experience.
• An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 3.5 years of visitor services experience and/or maintenance experience.

• To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.

• Dedication to encouraging collaboration and teamwork, and a spirit of selfless service.
• Skill in maintaining composure and taking appropriate action during emergency or emotionally charged situations, including enforcement of park rules.
• Experience in developing and delivering complex resource interpretation programs and products that include perspectives from all lived experiences in the area.
• Skill in teaching interpretation techniques and overseeing resource interpretation presentations of permanent staff, seasonal staff and volunteers at multiple locations.
• Skill in evaluating the effectiveness of interpretive programs and projects and in providing feedback to management.
• Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with a wide range of agencies, partners, and businesses that collaborate with or are involved in the agency’s operations.
• Experience in performing, planning, organizing, training and monitoring employees and volunteers in duties related to park maintenance, operations, project work, computer and data entry for park reports, contracts and project/program tracking.
• Skill in administering contractual agreements to ensure that products and services are delivered as specified.
