Job Description

The Oregon House Speaker's Office seeks an experienced legislative and public policy professional to join their team as a Policy Advisor. This individual will serve as a legislative liaison and policy coordinator to the House Speaker and legislative leadership team. The Policy Advisor will help advance the Speaker’s legislative agenda by providing research, analysis, and advice on current public policy issues.

This position requires a well-versed political strategist with experience tracking and monitoring legislative committees, work groups and legislation to ensure the success of critical public policy initiatives. They will also be responsible for serving as a liaison to agencies, advocates, and other stakeholders in the legislative process. The Policy Analyst may be assigned to work in a variety of issue areas but background in natural resources, climate, and environment is a plus.

This is a full-time, continuing position. The work of the Policy Analyst takes place in the State Capitol in Salem during legislative sessions and interim legislative days, with flexibility for hybrid work the rest of the year as business needs allow.

  • The Capitol building is located at 900 Court Street NE, Salem, OR 97301. Regardless of any remote work agreement granted by your Appointing Authority in accordance with Legislative Branch Personnel Rule 26, you may be required to report to the Capitol Building under short notice. Every effort will be made to provide reasonable notice. While working from home, personal, stable, and high-speed internet access will be required to perform the functions of this position.
