Juvenile Parole/Probation Assistant

OREGON YOUTH AUTHORITY Juvenile Parole & Probation Assistant (JPPA) SALEM, OREGON - OYA MARION & POLK COUNTY PAROLE & PROBATION FIELD OFFICE

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Supervise and monitor youths’ behavior in the community and in facilities, including securing transport and conducting required searches under an officer's direction.
  • Prepare case notes, progress reports, and court- or school-related documentation, and enter information into the Juvenile Justice Information System.
  • Interview youth, families, victims, and other parties to gather and verify background information used in case review and recommendations.
  • Connect youth to community resources — treatment, education, employment, and housing supports — to help facilitate successful rehabilitation.
  • Support Juvenile Parole and Probation Officers with case management backup, case file review, and testimony in court or administrative hearings as needed.

What You Need To Qualify As A JPPA:
  • Eighteen months experience in a social service, rehabilitative, or correctional program with primary responsibility for guiding individuals or groups in the solution of occupational, educational, personal or social problems; OR
  • An Associates Degree in Criminal Science, Criminal Justice, the Behavioral Sciences, Human Services or a related field
