Northwest Human Services (NWHS) is seeking a detail‑oriented Risk and Safety Program Specialist to support organizational safety, emergency, preparedness, and regulatory compliance across our health systems.

The Risk & Safety Program Specialist plays a key role in maintaining a safe and compliant environment for staff and clients. This position oversees incident reporting systems, supports investigations and corrective actions, conducts safety rounds, and helps ensure our organization meets HRSA, OSHA, CDC, Joint Commission, and state requirements.
You will work closely with the Director of Compliance and operational teams to analyze safety trends, maintain documentation, support emergency preparedness activities, and strengthen a just‑culture of safety across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Organizational Safety- Coordinate and facilitate Safety Committee meetings, agendas, minutes, and follow‑up.
- Conduct and track safety inspections, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Support audits, survey readiness, and compliance with OSHA, HRSA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Train Safety Committee Representatives and maintain safety‑related systems, forms, and intranet content.
- Plan and coordinate the annual Safety Fair.
- Maintain the Compliatric Incident Reporting system and ensure accurate categorization and documentation.
- Track Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and support departments in follow‑up.
- Provide training on incident reporting workflows and investigation processes.
- Compile and analyze trends for leadership and committee reporting.
- Support ongoing compliance monitoring, mock surveys, and documentation reviews.
- Manage organizational recall notices and medical equipment calibration schedules.
- Assist with manual updates, proofreading, and document standardization.
- Assist with emergency preparedness drills, data tracking, and reporting.
- Lead coordination of the annual “Great Shake Out” and participate in community drills.
- Represent the organization at Marion County Emergency Management Advisory Meetings.
- Maintain the monthly Evacuation Attendance List.
- Support risk management reviews, process improvement projects, and special assignments.
- Completes required training and maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in risk management, safety, or emergency preparedness (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Minimum two years of experience in healthcare, social services, or human services environments
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
