Children's Behavioral Health in Salem is hiring a mental health therapist to join our team. The prospective candidate will provide individual and family therapy, conduct mental health assessments, and guide the provision of other therapeutic supports such as case management and coordination of care. Mental Health Therapist 1: $29.54 - $39.58 hr
Mental Health Therapist 2: $35.83 - $48.00 hr
A wage enhancement of $1.25 will be added to the hourly wage as compensation for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (= 50% FTE)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Mental Health Therapist 2Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community.

Plans and carries out recreational, social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Mental Health Therapist 2 and 1Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Mental Health Therapist 2 and 1Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Mental Health Therapist 2 may act as Clinical Supervisor designee when needed. May assist in the supervision of practicum students and/or volunteers.
- Provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and transition age youth in Salem and surrounding communities; may provide these services in a community setting.
- Provides intake mental health assessments including screening for alcohol/drug issues.
- Documents services to meet contract, administrative rule and billing requirements. Expectation is that employee will strive for 30 hours per week to be scheduled with therapy, client support, committee work, and approved training.
- Provides consultation, training and orientation regarding mental health and co‑occurring disorders treatment to team members, student interns, and other professionals.
- Provides case management services to clients. Assists clients and families with accessing community supports/resources, including in community settings if indicated. Assists with making referrals for services.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on‑line or in‑person training.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGIn addition to the educational requirements above, the Mental Health Therapist 2 must have at least one year of full‑time, post‑Master's degree experience in the behavioral health field.
Preference will be awarded to candidates who are LCSW, CSWA or eligible for LCSW. Qualified candidates will be eligible for licensure supervision if hired.
